Engr. Dr. Domor Mienye

Dr. Domor Mienye is an engineer, artificial intelligence and data scientist with professional experience in the United States, South Africa, and the United Kingdom. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and a Master of Science in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of East London, United Kingdom, and a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. He began his career in the United States as a Technician with Cedar Point Entertainment Company in Sandusky, Ohio, before taking on senior technical and leadership roles across academia, financial services, and international organisations. His professional experience includes serving as Senior Data Scientist at Izwe Africa Group in Johannesburg, South Africa, Lead Analytics Engineer at Amplifi Capital, London, and Senior Data Specialist at a United Nations-supported organisation. He has also been a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute for Intelligent Systems, University of Johannesburg, and later held a similar research position at the University of South Africa, Pretoria, where he conducted research in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and intelligent systems.

Dr. Mienye has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed scientific publications, attracting over 7,000 citations on Google Scholar, and was recognised among the Stanford University and Elsevier Top 2% of Scientists in the World in both 2024 and 2025. He is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a registered engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), and a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE). He serves on the editorial boards of several international journals, including Discover Applied Sciences (Springer Nature), Informatics in Medicine Unlocked (Elsevier), and Computation (MDPI), and is an Associate Editor of the Health Informatics Journal (SAGE Publications). He believes that strategic planning, accountability, innovation, and evidence-based decision-making are essential to building stronger institutions and effective governance, and is committed to applying his international experience to advancing sustainable development, economic diversification, and data-driven governance in Bayelsa State and across Africa.
