He is a Senior Member of IEEE, a registered engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), and a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE). Trained originally as an engineer, Dr Mienye holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and a Master of Science in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of East London, United Kingdom. He also earned a PhD from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa.
